History of Lacey School of Dancing

Ballroom Dancing is under the control of The World Dance Council (WDC) This Controls all Examinations and championships. In this country we have the British Dance Council (BDC) which is a member of the WDC. The WDC at the moment it has 44 as paid up  member countries. We have nine dance associations to gain a recognised teaching qualifications in, we are members of the two main ones The Imperial Society of teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and The International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) In which we hold examinations in Patrick passed his Associate on 21st July 1963 in THE International Dance Masters Association (IDMA) later to become the IDTA. Hazel Passed her Associate on September 14th 1979. We are both qualified in  Ballroom, Latin American and Classical Sequence which was Old Time and Hazel was the first in the north of England to obtain her Disco in both the ISTD and IDTA then went on to get her Line Dance in both. Patrick was on the IDTA north east are committee for over 20 years and was made a Life Member of both the IDTA and ISTD . Both have over 7000 members world wide. All the above now came under Dance Sport to keep it independent of the stage dancing.

The International Dance Council CID is the official organization for all forms of dance in all countries of the world and on April 29th they established Dance Day each year since 1982 when members take part in 170 countries of the world. CID was founded in 1973 within the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
