History

Ballroom Dancing is under the control of The World Dance Council  (WDC) all over the world. In this country we have  The British Dance Council (BDC) which is a member of the WDC.The WDC at the moment it has 44 member countries as paid up members. We have nine dance associations for teachers to get recognised teaching qualifications in, we are members of the two main ones The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and The International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). In which we have examinations in. Patrick passed his Associate on 21st July 1963 in The International Dancing Masters Association (IDMA) later to became the IDTA. Hazel passed her  Associate on 14th September 1979.  We  both are qualified in Ballroom, Lain American and Classical Sequence which was Old Time and Hazel was the first  in the north of England to obtain her Disco she then went on to get her Line Dance  qualifications in both  the ISTD and IDTA. Patrick was on the IDTA area committee  for over 20 years and was made a Life Member of both the ISTD & IDTA. Both have over 7000 members world wide
